It bridges the "family"—an introverted, often invisible microcosm—with the broader society that surrounds it, treating them as a seamless continuum.The stage functions as a multilayered society: the house at the center represents the "private" (internal) environment, while the surrounding space embodies the "public" (external). The performance is composed of three elements: video works reenacting scenes inspired by the artist’s child, a physical structure modeled after a portion of the artist’s own home, and a "play" performed by ready-made objects—such as furniture and household appliances—acting as performers within the house. The entire space is treated as a single, multi-layered society, with a star sculpture installed in the center and a video piece, inspired by the artist's own child, screened around it. While examining the perspectives and feelings of the artist's own child with a disability, the piece explores the elusive constraints of modern society and the nature of individual life in relation to others. 『Study of Our Land』(2024 Single-Channel Video, 4K, Loop) This video work depicts two parents silently imitating the solitary play of their child, who has autism spectrum disorder and has difficulty imitating. The parents re-enact these unique, somewhat primitive solitary activities, such as spinning a tire, holding their hands over flowing water, and a strong obsession with numbers. As the parents repeatedly interfere with objects, disabling their inherent functions, individual characteristics and discrepancies emerge within the same actions, metaphorically expressing hostility, such as conflict and clash with others. The ambiguity of boundaries and intersecting realms that arise from these interactions invites reflection on the often invisible aspects of individual identity in society.『Self-Portrait of You Sometime Back』(2025 Paraffin wax, LED light, fixture) Since before the Common Era, humans have connected stars to create constellations and assigned specific meanings to them through specific metaphors. Shining stars are light that contains time depending on the distance between them. Light emitted from the sun is reflected off the Earth and heads towards various stars. Perhaps this light, which is also reflected back at us, will reach some distant planet. This work was inspired by the experience of witnessing a child gazing at his or her reflection in the mirror and smiling. I imagined the feeling of self and other merging, a stage before we begin to recognize ourselves, a stage in which the mirror image, an experience that has continued since ancient times, objectifies the self and other, and scattered countless stars inside the mirror tunnel.「NEW New Artists / NEW Backbone Artists 2025」Art Center NEW会期：2025年 9月26日(金) - 10月19日(日)時間：12:00〜20:00共催：横浜市にぎわいスポーツ文化局参加アーティスト：佐藤清、白川真吏、白間アミーナ、西村梨緒葉、森下綾香、渡邉元貴、orm、向井ひかり、浦丸真太郎、臼井仁美、木谷安憲 https://ormproject.com/carryonbody Sat, 23 Aug 2025 05:25:04 +0000 orm https://ormproject.com/carryonbody &nbsp; Carry on body（Mixed media, Sound instalation, Dimension variable, 2025） 本作は、ソウルで開催された本巡回展の第一回目である「Trans-비전ヴィジョン」展で展示された電柱を模した音響彫刻作品の続編である。韓国での展示の際には、実際の電柱と同じように会場のインフラとして機能した。作品内部を貫通した電線が他出展作家作品の電源供給としての役割を担い、他者と自身の作品の境界と共有について言及された。また作品それ自体の空洞を利用し反響するスピーカーとして機能し、作家が日本から韓国に移動する際の音が会場に鳴り響いた。 都市環境で生活する私たちにとって(アジア全域、特定の国々における)電柱という存在は、そこから伸びる電線によって家と家、街と街が繋がり合い、生活に欠かせない柱の1つである。言い換えれば都市空間における共有網のシンボルと捉えられる。その巨樹のような大きな姿にも関わらず、人々から意識されないほど街に溶込み、ある意味で限りなく自然なものとして存在している。しかしながら地震や戦争など不測の事態により電柱がなぎ倒され、その当たり前の姿が一変すればするほど、異質な存在に変わり、人々に不穏なイメージを強く刻みつけるのである。 ソウルでの展覧会後、その役割を一度終えた彫刻と共に、街の中へと移動した際に撮影された映像作品である。作品内で電柱は作家によって担がれ街の中を歩き、ある場所で置かれ、また別の場所へ運ばれたりといった行為が繰り返される。街ゆく人々は奇異な視線を注ぎ、その意図を探っているかのようであった。限りなく空っぽで、どこにも属さないこの不自然な彫刻物を、私たち人間の代価と捉え、次の共有先を求め彷徨い続ける。This work is a sequel to the sound sculpture modeled after an electric pole that was exhibited at the first installment of this traveling exhibition, “Trans-비전 Vision,” held in Seoul. &nbsp;During the exhibition in South Korea, it functioned as part of the venue's infrastructure, just like an actual electric pole. The wires running through the interior of the work served as a power supply for other artists' works, addressing the boundaries and sharing between other artists' works and their own. In addition, the hollow interior of the work functioned as a reverberating speaker, and the sounds of the artist's move from Japan to South Korea echoed throughout the venue.For those of us who live in urban environments (across Asia and in specific countries), utility poles are an indispensable part of our lives, connecting homes and neighborhoods through the wires that extend from them. In other words, they can be seen as a symbol of the shared network in urban spaces. Despite their massive, tree-like appearance, they blend into the cityscape to the point of being unnoticed, existing in a sense as something almost natural. However, in the event of unforeseen circumstances such as earthquakes or wars, when power poles are toppled and their ordinary appearance is drastically altered, they transform into something alien, leaving a strong sense of unease in people's minds. This video work was filmed after the exhibition in Seoul, when the sculpture, having fulfilled its role, was moved into the city. In the work, the utility pole is carried by the artist as he walks through the city, placing it in one location and then moving it to another, repeating this process. Passersby cast curious glances, as if trying to discern its purpose. Not only do they transmit and distribute electricity, which is essential to our daily lives, but they also play an important role in the infrastructure that connects communication lines such as the Internet. Despite their large, giant, tree-like appearance, utility poles are so integrated into cities that people are usually unaware of their presence and, in a sense, they are a natural part of our urban environment. In Japan, however, during disasters such as earthquakes, the poles are toppled and their natural appearance is altered to such an extent that people are left with an unnatural and disturbing image of the poles. This work functions as the infrastructure of the site in the same way as the actual electricity pylons. The electrical wires that run through the interior of the work serve as a power supply for the works of other exhibiting artists, sharing the boundary between others and one's ownwork. The work itself also functions as a reverberating loudspeaker, echoing the sounds of the artist's journey from Japan (his home) to Korea (the exhibition venue). Light emitted from the sun reflects off the earth and travels to different stars. orm's 《Self-Portrait of You someday》was inspired by the experience of seeing their own child staring and smiling at his reflection in the mirror. The work imagines the existence of the mirror image, a long-standing, unbroken line of mirror images, a sense of self and others dissolving into each other at the stage before we objectify the self and others and begin to recognise ourselves, and connects and reflects countless dots like constellations in a mirror tunnel to objectify space-time. この度、展覧会『150年』を開催する。会場は、再開発によって取り壊しが決定している東池袋の一区画の建築群、全6棟の広大な敷地である。そこには戸建て住宅から町工場、複数のオフィスが入居する雑居ビルなどが密集している。それぞれ築年数の異なる建築群だが2025年には一斉に取り壊される予定だ。 本展は、巨大ビルを舞台に日本美術の現在地を描き出して大きな話題を呼んだ展覧会『惑星ザムザ』以来となる田中勘太郎と布施琳太郎のタッグによる共同企画である。 前回は布施がキュレーションを担当したが、今回は田中が総監督をつとめる。 本展タイトルの発案者でもある田中は、展覧会にかかわる作品設置の現場や展覧会の方針を監督する。さらに、それぞれまったく異なる空間を持つ6棟の建築群に大穴をあけた上で、独自の仮設通路を貫通させる。パラレル状の道、鑑賞導線によってバラバラの建築は壊されながら結び合わされて、ひとつの展覧会『150年』となるのだ。 このような舞台で開催される本展が相手取るのは、150年「前」や「後」ではなく、ただの時間の量としての「150年」である。それは人類にとっては先祖の顔、あるいは未来の発展といった現実がギリギリで想起できない時間量だ。 参加作家たちによる多様な作品を通じて150年は様々に現実化する。150年が建築群に受肉される。ここで提示されるのは、複数的な時間旅行である。その旅行は、今ここにある建築群の過去に束縛されない。各作家が準備しているのは互いに異なる150年のかたちなのだ。 気が付けば同時代性がたんなる権威づけの手段として使われる今日の現代アートに対して、複数の作家たちが「150年」という時間量を設置する本展は、芸術作品を通じて〈無から傷を生じさせることはできるのか？〉を問う。それは矮小化した現代アートとはまったく別の時間感覚に向けた賭けだ。ここに集積される異形の時間たちとの出会いによって来訪者のイマジネーションを暴走させること。それが本展の賭けであり、今もまだ芸術に残された可能性だと信じている。 今作の制作のきっかけは、自宅の敷地内で育てていた観葉植物の鉢植えの中に雑草が生えていたことに由来する。観葉植物などと比べ、雑草は人間の関心の外にある。その鉢植えはいいかえれば国境、閉鎖的なコミュニティであり、人間により関心をかけられている特定の種のみがその土地で生きることが許される。しかしながら今私の目の前にあるこの鉢植えの中では、観葉植物と違う種である雑草は共存しているように見える。 本作では、生活する上で身近にある物や些細な事象に焦点をあて、そこから想起する社会における人々の関心・無関心のあり方、その暴力性に関するインスタレーション作品を展開する。性別、民族、国境等のアイデンティティによるカテゴライズ化をすり抜けるプラクティスとして、分断が進む今日的な世界に応答する。The event that lead to this artwork came from a weed growing in a potted houseplant that was growing on his property. Compared to houseplants, weeds are outside of human interest. The potted plant is, in other words, a border, a closed community, where only certain species that are of interest to humans are allowed to live. However, in this potted plant in front of me now, houseplants and weeds, which are different species, seem to coexist. In this work, the artist focuses on familiar objects and trivial events in our daily lives, and develops an installation work about the nature of people's interest or indifference in society and its violence, as evoked by these events.
